Scott Wilkinson, director of content over at www.avsforum.com is conducting a fascinating experiment to see if we can tell the difference between high-res audio files and plain old CD-quality files.  The experiment and the comparative high res and CD-quality audio files are being made available to anyone so that you too can conduct your own tests and decide for yourself.

The experiment is being helped along by AIX records, which is providing the source files in the different audio formats.

Scott Wilkinson has posted a nice, exhaustive post about what you’ll need to do the experiment yourself and how you can contribute data to the experiment.  You can find all the details here if you’re interested in participating or in following the progress of this experiment.
