Leonardo Da Vinci’s String Organ—the Viola Organista—Brought to Life

Leonardo Da Vinci dabbled in much more than art.  He conceived of several machines. One such concept was a new musical instrument that can be thought of as a cross between a harpsichord and a cello.

NPR has done a nice report on Polish pianist Slawomir Zibrzycki who has managed to bring the instrument to live after a four year endeavor.
